Consumption and production

World production of olive oil by countries

Few producers

Olive farming is present in more than 40 countries. It is important to note that 97.9% of world production is concentrated in the Mediterranean basin.

The recommendation to ensure successful production is to cultivate in latitudes between 30º and 40º.

Until a few years ago, crops were grown in the traditional way, reaching maximum densities of 150 plants per hectare. BOLSCHARE goes much further in its SES olive grove plantations, with more plants per hectare, highly mechanized and producing superior quality olive oils at a low cost.

Mechanical Collection

There are many advantages of highly mechanized work and treatment of an olive grove, from obtaining a higher percentage of extra virgin olive oil, a much more effective control of pests, diseases or nutrition, to a notable reduction in operating costs.

The world consumption of olive oil exceeds production, which directly affects the continuous increase in prices.

Demand and Consumption in the world

The increase in the consumption of olive oil is the most relevant among vegetable oils worldwide. Until now, the consumer was inclined to other oils, such as palm oil (40%), soybean oil (28%), canola oil (13.5%) or sunflower oil (9.5%). , among others.

World consumption of olive oil is greater than production, so there is still a long way to go, and while China or Japan, with large populations, are joining the list of consumers of this delicious and beneficial elixir.
