Antonio Álvarez Gallego, Chief Operating Officer of Bolschare Energy, shares an approach that goes beyond theory: it is already being applied in our super-intensive olive and almond tree farms. A proven, economically viable and scalable model, structured in three phases:

🔆 Phase 1 – Photovoltaic energy for self-consumption. Irrigation is carried out during daylight hours; generation occurs simultaneously. Synchronization is inherent. Amortization of the investment is achieved within 5 to 7 years, with a useful life in excess of 25 years.

🌱 Phase 2 – Biogas. The demand for irrigation is extended to night periods, and agricultural waste – together with that of neighboring rural communities – represents a competitive advantage rather than a cost center.

♻️ Phase 3 – Circular Economy. The digestate from the biogas plants is transformed into organic fertilizers that are returned to the soil, thus effectively closing the cycle. Measured results of Phase 1, certified through our Arima platform (accredited by AENOR):

▸ 60 % coverage of farm energy consumption
▸ 45 % reduction in operating costs
▸ More than 50 % reduction in CO₂ emissions
▸ Reduced noise pollution.

Agriculture has undergone industrialization. Like any other sector, its competitiveness now depends on the efficiency with which it manages energy. Our thanks to Expoenergea and all the attendees, whose discussions reinforced a clear message: the future of agriculture lies at the intersection between energy, agriculture and territory.
